Mohammed Atif
Graduate Research Fellow
Atif is a graduate student and a first-generation Indian Muslim immigrant to the U.S. He previously conducted research on the experiences of Indian Muslim students, documenting the challenges and opportunities they face as they integrate into American society. He is currently working on another research project focused on the campus experiences of Muslim students in the United States. This survey aims to identify ways to improve and develop U.S. colleges to be more Muslim-friendly.
Mahena Mahmood

Mahena is a graduate student and an active volunteer for social causes. She is currently conducting research under CME. Her research examines the experiences of Muslim students on American university campuses, aiming to bridge the gap between institutional practices and the needs of Muslim students, fostering a more inclusive and supportive campus environment for Muslim Students.
2022-2023 Undergraduate Research Fellows
Omera Ali is a freshman studying biological sciences with plans for a career in the healthcare field. She has lived in multiple states and in the Phoenix area for the last 8 years. She volunteers at a number of local organizations and her local mosque.
Simra Maheen is a freshman at Barrett, The Honors College, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies. She is a 2022 Flinn Scholar, a prestigious merit-based scholarship. She is born and raised in Phoenix and is committed to serving the community.
Erik Soderlund is a freshman studying religious studies specializing in global affairs and politics. Erik is highly interested in research and also a member of the ASU rowing team. He comes from an international background and lived on three different continents and in four different countries. Erik has called Arizona his home since August '22.
