CME-US proudly supports U.S. Congressman André Carson’s (Indiana) resolution (H.Res. 61) to designate January as Muslim American Heritage Month.
This initiative recognizes the long-standing and diverse contributions of Muslim Americans, from early scholars, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to today’s artists, scientists, and public servants. It also highlights the importance of education and visibility in countering bias and misinformation.
Recognizing Muslim American Heritage Month affirms that Muslim identity is an essential part of the American story. For centuries, Muslim communities have enriched the nation’s moral, cultural, and intellectual life, yet their stories often remain untold.
In January 2026, CME-US will honor this vision through a series of programs that celebrate Muslim creativity, heritage, and belonging. Planned events include a film screening followed by a panel discussion, a student photo competition and exhibition, a musical performance, and the release of our forthcoming book Beyond the Headlines, along with additional programming that highlights Muslim creativity, heritage, and historical narratives.
This observance is more than symbolic. It is an opportunity to strengthen empathy, inclusion, and shared humanity, which are values at the heart of the CME-US mission. We look forward to celebrating alongside our partners and communities across Arizona and across the country.
