Community Engagement

The center is working to create a virtual museum and a digital repository including oral histories, lectures, performances and films, music, art and literature, pictures, artifacts and brief biographies of leading Muslim Americans spanning U.S. history.

The Muslim American community is richly diverse, encompassing different cultural traditions and fusing with American cultures. CME-US highlights the diversity and creativity of Muslim Americans and their contributions to a vibrant American culture by organizing annual events and performances. 

At the heart of many misconceptions of Islam are Muslim women. Through an interdisciplinary approach and partnership with diverse community members, this project addresses the particular challenges Muslim women face, their strategies for creating a place in the U.S. and their leadership as Muslim Americans.
