The Center of Muslim Experience (CME) at Arizona State University is proud to establish a Biennial Book Award.
This award recognizes outstanding scholarship on Muslim experiences in the United States and honors authors whose work brings to light the histories, contributions, and lived realities of American Muslims through rigorous research, thoughtful analysis, and public-facing scholarship. The award will highlight work that contributes to a more nuanced, humanized understanding of Muslim American life and its place within the broader American story.
Eligibility and Requirements for Future Biennial Book Awards
Focus: The work must center on American Muslim scholarship.
Format: Only research-based, academic, peer reviewed books are eligible
Authorship: Books must be single-authored or co-authored only (Self-nominations are accepted); edited volumes will not be accepted.
Publication Date: Eligible books must have been published in 2026 or 2027.
Review Copies
All book submissions must be provided in triplicate for review by the jury. The nomination form only needs to be submitted once; submitters are not required to complete multiple nomination forms.
Hard-copy submissions are preferred; however, electronic versions (e-books) will also be accepted. Mailing instructions for jury members will be provided to submitters after confirmation of eligibility.
Award Details
The selected awardee will receive $500 in prize money, along with a certificate of award, in recognition of their scholarly contribution.
